Fun with Fractions

 

Aloha Parents and Students,

This week we will be practicing fractions. Fractions are always a challenge so the games I have found for you this week should help your students gain confidence and increase comprehension of fractions. Fractions are an important concept for your students to learn so they can keep progressing in math.

Adding Fractions

This game practices adding fractions. It uses a very helpful graphic display to help your child visualize the fraction. It also includes an easy to hard scale that you can set to increase or decrease difficulty. You might consider increasing difficulty after your child is comfortable with the easy setting.

Equivalent Fractions

This game allows your child to visualize equivalent fractions. Here again a graphic that can be manipulated shows a visual representation of the equivalent fractions. This is an excellent way to learn the Lowest Common Denominator.

This game shows a visual representation of fraction addition. Seeing the relationship will help your child understand the process.

These are three good games each with a graphic representation of the problems. They should help your child get a better grasp on the difficult topic of fractions.

Dear Parent,

This week we have been working on our handwriting. We have been focusing on Letter Formation to ensure your child's writing is legible. I have found a few fun internet games for your child to practice with.

English Alphabet

This game shows correct letter formation of each word in the alphabet. This will help your child to see correct writing of each letter.

Writing Repeater

This game allows your child to practice correct letter formation with letter and words.
This will help them to write legibly.

Sky Writer

This is a really fun game where a plane sky writes letter and your child follows with their finger. It teaches clearly writng each letter in the alphabet.
